SWOT (Sydney Welcome Orientation and Transition)
SWOT is held at The University of Sydney over three days in the week before first semester and is part of the SWOT program (Sydney Welcome Orientation and Transition). The Koori Centre normally holds a special Orientation Day for new Indigenous Australian students the day before the SWOT program starts. This gives students time to familiarise themselves with facilities and staff, and provides an opportunity for students to meet each other.
A short program runs from 10.00am until 12.30pm which begins with a Welcome by the Director and ends with a lunch in the courtyard. Information sessions cover the Academic Skills program, Learning Centre, Sydney University Sport, Student Union and Student Representative Council, Abstudy, MyUni Indigenous Student Portal and many other student services, it also includes an introduction to Koori Centre staff.
This is a very valuable day for Indigenous students, as it highlights the many academic and support networks available at the Koori Centre and throughout the wider University community, in one short program.
