The following general information is provided for the convenience of Koori Centre staff:

Computers and IT Equipment

Please advise Curtis (X17073 or curtis@koori.usyd.edu.au) of any computer or associated equipment problems as soon as possible. For problems which cannot be solved in-house, Curtis then contacts the ICT Helpdesk and logs a job with them. He will be advised of the turnaround time and let you know when a member of the Desktop Support team will be available.

Email

Koori Centre staff are automatically allocated an email address which is normally organised by Curtis. Please contact Curtis (tel: x17073 email: curtis@koori.usyd.edu.au) for any email related enquiries.

Justices of the Peace

The University provides a complete list of Justices of the Peace. You must call to make an appointment.

Keys

The Executive Assistant arranges for the allocation of keys and cards. Staff are required to collect and sign for office keys, external perimeter keys and swipe cards at the Services Building (level 2) on the corner of Abercrombie and Codrington Streets Darlington. Staff are reminded to take photo ID with them. Please see University map.

All queries reagarding keys/swipe cards etc should be directed to the Executive Assistant on X14859.

Library

The Koori Centre Library is located in the same corridor as the Common Room and the Ivan Turner Room. While this is a research only library, Academic staff of the Koori Centre are able to borrow resources for short periods of time. Please see for loan details.

Opening Hours: 9.30am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday

Meeting Dates

Combined Staff Meetings:
The Meeting Schedule includes meeting dates as well as roster details for Facilitators and Minute Takers. Combined staff meetings are held on the first Friday of each month (date changes only made under exceptional circumstances)

Academic Meetings: Meetings are held on the second Friday of each month.

Admin Meetings: Meetings are held every Tuesday.

Meeting Minutes and Agenda are saved on the Common Drive>Staff Meetings>(appropriate folder) and can be accessed by all Koori Centre staff.

Occupational Health and Safety

Office Supplies

Stationery and other office supplies are available from the Photocopy Room near Student Administration. If you require supplies which are not stocked, please add request to the order sheet which is located on the side of the shelving unit. Orders are placed every Tuesday. Parking

University Staff may apply for a Parking Permit through the Traffic Office. Permits can be completed on-line Cost details are also on this site.

Casual paid parking is also available on campus for a flat fee of $24 per day. Pay and display notices can be purchased from a number of vending machines. Failure to display a current parking notice or parking permit will result in a substantial fine.

Photocopying

Photocopiers are located in the Photocopy Room, the Library and the Student Computer Lab. Large volumes of photocopying can be given to Student Administration staff but should be lodged with adequate lead time to complete the task on time and with a Photocopy Request form completed and attached. Forms can be found on the workbench in the photocopy room.

Policies

The University provides extensive information on all current policies which are available from the Policy website.

The Koori Centre also develops in-house policies for specific functions performed by the Centre. Copies of these can be found in the Policies folder on the Common Drive.

Room Bookings

Internal teaching spaces are booked through the Room Bookings calendar in Outlook.

Rooms for meetings can also be made through the Room Bookings calendar.

Telephones

  • External* calls - Dial 0 then the required phone number
  • Internal* calls - Dial last 5 digits of required phone number
    * Same for faxes
  • Retrieve messages (internally) - Dial 17000, security code, follow the prompts
  • Retrieve messages (externally) - Dial 93517000, security code, enter your mailbox number (extension number) follow the prompts.
  • Skip to next message - Dial 7, during or after listening to messages
  • Record “out of office” greeting - Dial 17000, security code, 3, 1, 3, follow prompts. Remember to save the message at the end of the recording session.

If you are phoning someone within the University and you don’t have time to listen to their “out of office greeting” Dial 5 and you will be taken straight to voicemail so you can leave a message.

When making an external call which asks you to dial numbers to select options, often numbers on the University phones are not recognised. If you dial 9 before you make your selection, this will enable the telephone computing system to recognise the number you have selected. You only need to enter 9 once, before the first selection, subsequent selections are recognised automatically. (Some phones may not require this step, but if your first selection is not recognised, then dial 9 and proceed as normal.)

Timetables

Noeleen (tel: x16113 email: ) can be contacted for administrative matters related to timetables. In consultation with Academic staff Noeleen prepares the block-mode timetables and also configures the teaching matrix which lists all teaching responsibilities for all staff for each semester. All of these documents are available for staff on the Common Drive.
